Feedback- The Pitch

As a group, we have learned how important and significant time management for all the developments in our production.  Furthermore, we have learned how to use different technology to include different things in the title sequences such as music, title credits and cast. We have also learned to include images to create a more visual aspect for the viewers to understand what to expect.

As the film is abour school girls who bully a boy in school. We will also ask the school if we can borrrow some of their uniform therefore it can be more realistic.

The font type that is used for the title?

  •  All letters in capitals
  • Stylized

  • bold

  • Gold

  • Large

What happens behind the font?

Bright light appears on the screen. The Game of Thrones logo then appears over the astrolabe, with the heads of a dragon, wolf, lion, and stag emerging from the side of the logo.  The title and the logo both rotate around until it is positioned straight to the middle of the screen. Dramatic music is playing in the background almost as if we can feel that the game is actually happening.

What do you like about this sequence, why did you pick it?

The colours and the bold writing caught my attention that is why I chose this title sequence. I like that this title sequence is different to other title sequence as it gives an image of what is going to happen in the movie to the audience. Also, it is very unique/stylized and I really like the way the title is transitioned to the screen. You can see that a lot of thought was put into the title sequence.  The colours and the bold writing caught my attention that is why I chose this title sequence.

Other Information

If you watch the title sequence attentively, you'll see the the feuding families backstory told in pictures.

What happens behind the font?

Behind the font is a blue light that flashes as it is positioned to the middle of the screen. The colours used for the background are dark colours which allow the film title to stand out. The background is simple yet effective. Bright colours and bold font are used to allow the title to stand out.  We hear one of the soundtracks being played.

What do you like about this sequence, why did you pick it?

I like the idea of some of the scenes being played on the title sequence as it allows the audience to have idea of what to expect. I also like the way the credits are transitioned on to the screen. Furthermore, i also like the music played in the title sequence as i think it is suitable for the target audience.

Other Information

The total schedule was about eight weeks after the initial meeting. The title sequence was made very quickly.

Representation-The pitch

Representation

The characters that will be introduced in our title sequence are:
Stacey
Sally
Shaniqua

Tom

The different social groups that are evident in our opening are 3 young teenage girls: Stacey, Sally and shaniqua who are seen as the popular girls that everyone seems to admire and see as them as the 'cool' girls. Then there is Tom who is the nerdy boy who is the quiet and loves to be in the background. The 3 popular girls will be portayed using camera editing as we willl mostly use wide shots and shot reverse shots to show how hey are always in a group together and how much they are dependant of each other. We will use MES by having the girls in fashionable clothes.  All characters will be seen in a school. Different types of songs will be used on the characters to show the difference in their music tastes. For Tom we will use lots of close ups and mid shots to show his emotions and how he is feeling. We will also use books and glasses to show his intelligent side. We will represent these social groups stereotypically by showing glances of them being popular, stupid and mean for the girls and nerdy, smart and quiet for the Tom.
Mercia.

The pitch film-Representation

The characters that will be introduced in our title sequence are:
Shaniqua that would be portrayed as Mercia
Shaznay that would be portrayed as Nazmin
Tom that would be portrayed as Liam

The evident social groups that would be portrayed in the title sequence is the main popular girls that bull people that they thing is underneath them in the 'social ladder'. The other social group is the shy nerdy boy that gets picked on because he is seen as the social minority in other people eyes due to his personality and his physical appearance. As a group, we chose to represent the social groups stereotypically as the audience will acknowledge it more as it can be more relatable to them.

We would show the footage of the bulling happening, so automatically the audience will know which stereotype and social group is shown by each character that would be featured in the movie.

whats the purpose of an opening sequence?

The Purpose Of An Opening Sequence

  1. To give you an idea of what the film will be about with out giving away the plot line.
  2. To show you the main actors, the directors, writers ect. To show the audience the cast and crew. most of the time only the well known cast and crew are seen because if they like them then they would stay to watch the film.
  3. Its used to bring the audience in. So by watching the opening sequence you want to see what the whole movie is about so the better the opening sequence the more people will stay

What Is The Purpose Of a Film Opening?

The Purpose...

  • The main purpose of a Film Opening is to introduce the main/important roles, and to introduce in some cases the main or most famous actors/actresses that feature within the movie, these roles also consist of the directors, writers and main actors.
  • It also is there to set the scene and show the audience/viewers where it is based and what is roughly going on in the movie or what has happened.
  • It is also there to show which genre it is trying to represent, even though in most movie cases the genre of the movie is already know beforehand, the opening sequence can have a larger impact on the movie.

The Film- Rick Assessment

Risk Assessment (Liam)

During the filming part of the film we will most likely come across many different safety risk that we will have to find solutions to and overcome them, For example:

  • The Weather is a risk that we will have to learn to over come because if It rains we will be using  a lot of expensive equipment that could get damaged by the rain and would cost a lot to replace and make filming our film almost impossible, to prevent this we could film inside where we're at less risk of damaging the equipment.
  • Location is also a risk, whether we're filming at a place with heights or a place where the equipment and are well being are at risk. In order to prevent this  it is more about deciding whether this risk is actually worth taking and if it is debatable it most likely isn't a good option.

The pitch-Technology skills audit

By the process of planning my title sequence, i have learnt various of different technology (hardware and software) to create our title sequence. The mains one i have learnt is garage band and motion.

Garage band

motion

Each ones of these different technology allowed me to involve music and title credits in our title sequence to make it look more dramatic also it gave it a more professional effects and result to it as a final piece. Furthermore, each of these technology had developed our project as it made it look more interesting and intriguing to watch as a title sequence.

The pitch-title credits

Nazmin

Our title credits intend to look a bit animated to fit in with the high school theme. It will look fun and bold to catch the audience in the first second. We would like our title credits to go over the moving images to make it look more dramatic and give it a more professional effect to it. A title sequence that we are comparing to our own is the film Juno

Our group has decided to create our title credits in motion as it is a great way to use motion graphics tools for creating eye catching titles, transitions and effects.
